Une femme ----------------> vocals and attempts at various instruments

Wuss Screening at French Legation Museum

I made a previous post about the film Wuss, in which I contributed my vocals in the closing scene/credits. If you happen to be in Austin, you can check it out tomorrow at 7:30pm. I’m not quite sure if it turned out how I’d like, but done it is. I had never heard the song before, and we spent an hour or two (if I remember correctly) going over it/recording it. Since it was due right then and there, we didn’t really have much time to redo any parts that deemed it necessary. Sometimes it’s nice to break away from what I normally prefer doing.

“Untitled” by To Bell the Cat

If you find yourself watching Clay Liford’s new film Wuss, you’ll catch me singing over the last scene.

“Fire” by To Bell the Cat (newer version)

I’ve already posted this song in the past, but this version is a bit different. I was in the middle of moving and was about to lose access to some of the things I record with, so this is what I got done in the time constraint that I had. I added bass, drums, and a new piano part. Some things to ignore - I accidentally had the metronome on in the program I recorded the song in so you can hear it in the background. Also, I am not a drummer. At all. I still would have attempted to make it a little better, but I ran out of time. This is why I’m looking for a drummer. If you live in Austin and wanna play with me send me a message. And as always, the recording is not mixed. Still playing with the arrangement as well. But I do feel like it’s coming closer to the finished product.

I’m playing at 1919 Hemphill on Saturday April 30th. It’s an all ages event. $6 gets you in and fed. Can’t beat that.

A clip of To Bell the Cat covering “Black Sabbath” by Black Sabbath

If you like Black Sabbath, but you also like mellow, ambient music then you should take a listen. I’ll post the entire cover once I’m done with it. I always enjoy covers that make the song a bit different from the original, and I think it’s safe to say I’ve accomplished that here.

“Merrily, Merrily” by James Johnston

I’ve been sick, sick, sick! I’m finally getting over the physical part of it, so my voice should kick back in soon, right? In the meantime, I’ll leave you with a short film I sang backup harmonies on.

“Tomorrow Never Waits” by To Bell the Cat

Another scratch recording of a work in progress.

“Fire” by To Bell the Cat

I have a tendency to be extremely self conscious about sharing my songs. This blog is an attempt to cure that. I’m realizing that I life’s too short and I need to just let myself be. The song is still in it’s writing process and the track is in no way mixed. Enjoy!

If you like what you hear or have constructive criticism, how about letting me know.

Congratulations! You’ve somehow stumbled upon the blogings of an album in creation. I’d post a song for you, but tumblr only allows one upload a day. So until tomorrow, you can read the Aesop’s Fable ”The Mice In Council”:

Once upon a time all the Mice met together in Council, and discussed the best means of securing themselves against the attacks of the cat. After several suggestions had been debated, a Mouse of some standing and experience got up and said, “I think I have hit upon a plan which will ensure our safety in the future, provided you approve and carry it out. It is that we should fasten a bell round the neck of our enemy the cat, which will by its tinkling warn us of her approach.” This proposal was warmly applauded, and it had been already decided to adopt it, when an old Mouse got upon his feet and said, “I agree with you all that the plan before us is an admirable one: but may I ask who is going TO BELL THE CAT?”
